L.P.R PEOPLE’S MILITIA CORPS

21st of November, 2015. Lugansk People’s Republic, Novorossiya.

The LPR head Igor Plotnitsky took part in the solemn meeting dedicated to the first anniversary of the formation of the Separate Commandant Regiment of Corps of the LPR people’s militia.

The head of the republic congratulated the personnel and awarded distinguished servicemen with the medals “For faith and will”.

“You really fought with dignity, and not only fought. Back then, we had neither the LPR Interior Ministry nor any other bodies where you could turn to. People came to you – to the commandant’s office. I’d like to thank you for fulfilling your duties conscientiously, and for being those people whom our residents are not afraid to ask for help. However, our war is not over yet. A lot of things depend on your work. I thank all of you. Honour and eternal glory to those who died,” – Igor Plotnitsky said.

The commander of the Commandant Regiment Colonel Sergei Grachev noted that the creation of the commandant’s office was initiated during the seizure of the building of the Security Service of Ukraine in Lugansk in the spring of 2014.

“The commandant’s office was created on April 9, 2014. Back then, it consisted of 67 people, who guarded the building of the Security Service of Ukraine. Later, commandant’s offices were created in many other cities in the Lugansk region,” – Grachev said.

The Commandment Regiment was officially established in late November, 2014. On December 22, 2014, it received the LPR Battle Banner. Currently, the Commandment Regiment guards important facilities and accompanies valuable cargoes. Military commandant’s offices, in addition to their direct functions, cooperate with the LPR Interior Ministry and the LPR Ministry of State Security in order to maintain order in cities and villages of the republic.
