Head of DPR opened Memory Alley in
Donetsk

The Memory Alley for dead Donbas defenders was
inaugurated today in the Lenin Komsomol Park in Donetsk.
The event attracted several hundred participants, among
whom was the Head of the DPR Alexander Zakharchenko, the mayor of Donetsk Igor
Martynov, the vice commander of the DPR Defense Ministry Corps Eduard Basurin,
representatives of the republican ministries and departments.
At the beginning of the ceremony Zakharchenko
addressed the veterans and thanked them for their deeds, experience and example
of love for the country, which today allowed the militia to fight for the
independence.
‘Due to these defenders of our land we
are all alive now. Due to what you have taught us, we are protecting our land.
Today we honour not only guys who have laid down their head, but our entire
valiant army of times of our fathers and grandfathers who defended our rights
in 1941-1945,’ said Zakharenko.
At the meeting there were also recalled
soldiers-internationalists who participated in conflicts in Afghanistan,
Angola, Vietnam and many other countries.
‘Any nation that forgets its history is a
losing nation,’ said the Head of the Republic.
The participants honoured the memory of soldiers
who died for Donbass with a minute of silence. After that, the Head of the
Republic, together with the other participants, planted 100 trees along the
Alley.

An
alley in memory of the fallen defenders of Donbass has been officially opened
in the Lenin Komsomol Park in Donetsk.
The
event was attended by a few hundred people, including the DPR head Alexander
Zakharchenko, Donetsk Mayor Igor Martynov, the Executive Commander of Corps of
the DPR Defense Ministry Eduard Basurin, representatives of DPR ministries and
departments.
At
the beginning of the ceremony, Zakharchenko addressed to the Great Patriotic
War veterans and thanked them for their feats, experience and an example of
love of country.
“Thanks
to these defenders, we are alive. Thanks to the things they taught us, we’re
defending our land. Today, we’re honouring the memory of not only the guys died
in Donbass, but also the valiant army of our fathers and grandfathers who
defended their rights in 1941-1945,” – Alexander Zakharchenko said.
All
those present also honoured the memory of soldiers-internationalists who had
fought in Afghanistan, Angola, Vietnam and many other countries.
“Any
nation, which forgets its history, is the nation that has lost,” – Zakharchenko
added.
The
participants of the event observed a moment of silence in memory of the
defenders of Donbass. After that, they planted 100 trees.
The
memory alley in the Lenin Komsomol Park became the continuation of the alley of
angels dedicated to the children killed by the Ukrainian forces. A sign
installed in the memory alley reads “Eternal memory to the heroes died for the
freedom and independence of our Motherland”.
