2016 SLAVIC BROTHERHOOD MILITARY DRILLS (2 TO 15 NOVEMBER 2016)

SLAVIC BROTHERHOOD, SERBIAN RUSSIAN AND BELARUS MILITARY DRILLS STARTING NOVEMBER 2nd!

Over 150 paratroopers from the Separate Reconnaissance Battalion of Russia’s Ivanovo Airborne Division will take part in the Slavic Brotherhood-2016 drills in Serbia, Russia’s Defense Ministry’s press service reported on Monday.

  



The military drills are scheduled to be conducted from November 2 to 15 near Serbia’s capital of Belgrade, Serbian, Russian and Belarusian troops will participate in the exercise.


“Over 150 paratroopers will represent Russia at the international military drills dubbed Slavic Brotherhood-2016. Taking into account the specific nature and the plan of the drills, the servicemen of the separate reconnaissance battalion of the 98th Airborne Division were chosen to take part in the exercise,” the Defense Ministry’s press service said.


The drills will also involve three BMD-2 combat vehicles, Tachyon unmanned aircraft crew as well as four quad-bikes for conducting raids and reconnaissance missions.

The first Slavic Brotherhood drills took place last year at the Rayevsky shooting range near the Russian city of Novorossiysk at the Airborne mountain force base. This time Serbia is supervising the drills.

General Draganic with Russian and Belarusian delegations on Slavic Brotherhood 2016

Deputy Chief of General Staff of the Serbian Armed Forces Lieutenant General Jovica Draganic has received the delegations of the armed forces of the Russian Federation and the Republic of Belarus that took part in the final planning conference of the Slavic Brotherhood 2016 exercise, in Belgrade, today.

General Draganic discussed with the Russian and the Belarusian delegations, led by Major General Oleg Olegovich Polguyev and Colonel Vyacheslav Viktorovich Gubski, respectively, the preparations for the execution of the Slavic Brotherhood 2016 as well as the exercise implementation plan, which was agreed at the final planning conference.

Slavic Brotherhood 2016 will take place on the territory of the Republic of Serbia at the beginning of November this year.

The exercise will be performed as a trilateral exercise of the armed forces of the Russian Federation, the Republic of Belarus and the Serbian Armed Forces, and represents a continuation of cooperation between the Airborne Troops of the armed forces of the Russian Federation and the Special Brigade of the Serbian Armed Forces started by conducting the exercise SREM 2014, which was also conducted on our territory. In 2015, the exercise was carried out on the territory of the Russian Federation entitled Slavic Brotherhood 2015 which, in addition to the armed forces of the Russian Federation and the Serbian Armed Forces included for the first time members of the armed forces of the Republic of Belarus.
