MOSCOW, February 14. /TASS/. The newly-elected president of the Fair Aid
Foundation (also known as Dr. Liza Foundation) Ksenia Sokolova is going to
visit Donbass soon.
"Donbass and Syria were the two key aspects of the Fund’s activity.
I will certainly go Donbass myself soon. As for Syria, it remains to be seen if
my personal presence is required there," Sokolova said.
The forthcoming evacuation of sick and injured children from Donbass is due on March 3. Medical supplies for local hospitals will be dispatched there shortly.
The Dr.
Liza Foundation’s new leader has promised to go ahead with the Foundation’s
traditional activities - help for the homeless and needy and patients in
palliative care at home.
Earlier,
the general meeting of the Fair Aid Foundation unanimously voted for Sokolova
as the organization’s new president. Before she was the organization’s trustee.
The Fair
Aid Foundation was established by medical doctor Yelizaveta Glinka, whose
charity activity in Donbass promptly earned her an informal nickname: Dr. Liza.
During the conflict in Donbass she has managed to evacuate nearly 500 seriously
ill children from the self-proclaimed Donetsk and Lugansk republics to Russia.
Her life came to an abrupt and tragic ending on December 25, 2016, when a
Tupolev-154 liner heading for Syria crashed into the Black Sea near Sochi. All
passengers, including Yelizaveta Glinka, and crew - 92 in all, died in the
disaster.
